About the role
As a Paid Social Media Marketing Intern, you will work directly with TheOutHaven's marketing efforts to plan, create, organize, publish, and evaluate social media content. The role is designed to provide meaningful, supervised experience across content strategy, short-form video, copywriting, community engagement, campaign execution, local business storytelling, and social analytics.
You will help translate TheOutHaven's product and brand into useful, entertaining, and visually engaging social content for audiences looking for restaurants, activities, events, experiences, date ideas, group outings, nightlife, and other things to do. You may support content for platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and other channels used by TheOutHaven.
This is a remote-first internship with a New York City / Long Island market focus. Some assignments may involve researching local businesses, events, neighborhoods, trends, or outing ideas. Any optional in-person content capture or local assignment will be communicated in advance and scheduled appropriately. The internship is structured for approximately 10 hours per week over 12 weeks.
What you’ll do
- Help maintain a weekly and monthly social media content calendar aligned with TheOutHaven marketing priorities
- Research restaurants, activities, events, experiences, neighborhoods, hospitality trends, seasonal moments, and local outing ideas across NYC and Long Island
- Develop ideas for short-form social content, recurring content series, location spotlights, outing recommendations, educational posts, promotional posts, and community-focused content
- Draft social captions, hooks, calls to action, video concepts, post copy, and supporting campaign copy in TheOutHaven's brand voice
- Assist with creating and editing social assets such as short-form videos, reels, stories, carousels, static posts, and simple graphics using approved tools and brand guidelines
- Organize approved photos, video clips, logos, location information, campaign assets, and other marketing materials for efficient content production
- Support publishing and scheduling of approved content across designated social channels
- Monitor comments, messages, mentions, and community engagement and escalate customer-service, business-owner, safety, or sensitive issues to the appropriate team member rather than responding outside approved guidelines
- Help identify relevant social trends, formats, sounds, content styles, and cultural moments that may be appropriate for the brand
- Track basic performance metrics such as reach, impressions, views, watch time, engagement, saves, shares, profile visits, link activity, and follower growth
- Prepare simple weekly performance summaries highlighting what content performed well, what did not, and what could be tested next
- Assist with A/B-style creative testing of hooks, captions, formats, posting approaches, and calls to action when directed by the marketing team
- Support organic campaigns promoting TheOutHaven features, local businesses, events, experiences, reservation options, business-claim initiatives, and other approved company programs
- Help maintain consistent branding, formatting, naming, links, disclosures, and quality standards across published content
- Participate in brief check-ins, accept feedback, revise work, and document progress on assigned marketing tasks
- Contribute ideas for improving audience growth, engagement, content quality, and awareness of TheOutHaven
- Follow company privacy, confidentiality, copyright, brand-safety, and content-approval requirements when working with business information, images, customer information, or unpublished company material

- Genuine interest in social media marketing, digital content, local discovery, hospitality, restaurants, events, experiences, or consumer technology
- Ability to research information carefully and distinguish verified information from assumptions before using it in public-facing content
- Strong attention to detail, including spelling, links, dates, location information, formatting, and brand consistency
- Ability to organize assignments, meet agreed deadlines, communicate blockers, and work independently within a remote workflow
- Willingness to receive feedback and revise creative work based on brand, legal, quality, or campaign requirements
- Basic comfort using common digital productivity and content tools; specific platform training can be provided
- Ability to commit approximately 10 hours per week for the 12-week internship period
- Ability to follow written content-approval procedures and avoid publishing unapproved or confidential information
